Teaching
Since graduating from Durham University, Sophie has been involved in music education. Her early career began at Wells Cathedral School's music department, followed by a two-year role at the Purcell School. During this time, Sophie developed her skills in teaching music, both instrumental and academic, alongside coaching ensembles and chamber music. She also gained valuable experience in pastoral care and child safeguarding.
Sophie graduated in 2024 with a PGCE in group instrumental teaching from Birmingham City University, sponsored by Music Masters. She also teaches for the Music Masters charity, which is dedicated to making instrumental lessons more accessible in state schools.
She also teaches cello and piano at James Allen’s Saturday School for the Performing Arts in Dulwich, alongside Merton Music Foundation, and teaching privately.
Her experience also includes working with with the National Children’s Orchestra, LSO St Luke’s, the Benedetti Foundation, Oasby Music Group, and Harrow Music Service.
Private tuition
In addition to her educational roles, Sophie offers private cello lessons during evenings and weekends, travelling to her students' homes in South East or Central London.
